Professional advisers · Not a client brochure

When to put a NED in — and how to introduce one without losing the client.

Partners are asked for “someone who can sit on the board” when a client is scaling, selling, raising, succeeding a founder, or cleaning up finance. This page is what you can attach to that email.

What’s in it for the firm

A growing client, therefore higher fees. More room for corporate finance, commercial finance, virtual FD work, management accounts and genuine advisory. A higher-value relationship. A client who is less likely to stall — or to surprise you in diligence.

What Jayesh will not do

He will not bid against you for compliance, tax, audit or the transaction mandate. You remain the adviser of record. He will not become a shadow CEO, a part-time FD or a marketing agency. He will not go around you. Introduce by email and stay on the thread.

Best-fit introductions

Owner-managed and mid-market businesses in reach of Bolton, or remote. Construction, services, specialist trades, agencies, media and technology — and any client approaching capital, succession or a finance-function problem.

Titles taken: Non-Executive Director, Non-Executive Chair, Board Advisor.

Why you can put your name next to the introduction

The mandates behind the recommendation.

Accountants do not refer atmosphere. They refer a Chair who has already sat through growth, fraud, restructuring and capital conversations — and who will not compete for the firm’s fees.

Six years · NED

Growth plus crisis finance after FD fraud. Bankers, HMRC, shareholders. Pipeline of more than £80m qualified opportunities. Reputation protected.

Financial stress. 80+ to 19 people, volumes up, three UK units, AI-enabled M&A, inspectable KPIs.

Capital · PLC

a media PLC

Eight-digit investment, subsequent £400m growth plan, executive accountability on the numbers.

When a NED is the right product

A structural event is coming. The numbers are no longer safe to take on trust. The owner is still the operating system. The firm wants a repeatable advisory offer — a NED seat with a defined cadence — rather than open-ended consultancy days.

Do not appoint a NED to write the marketing plan or replace the CEO. If that is the need, Jayesh will say hire it.
